This Mindset Shift Will Transform Your Quiet Time

Do you feel like you’re just going through the motions of Bible reading and prayer without finding joy in it?

You’re not alone.

I’ve struggled with monotony and joylessness in my devotions too, but whenever that happens, I keep coming back to this one truth that makes all the difference.

God wants to be with us.

He knows what is best for us, and He wants to move us from a place of duty to delight in Him. The end goal isn’t just to check “quiet time” off our list. Our goal in reading the Bible is to spend time with the God who longs to draw us close to Him, to drink from the Living Water, to feast from the Bread of Life, to be with God and to find joy in His presence.

God doesn’t want us to go anywhere else; He wants us to go only to Him, because He knows what is best for us. All those other gods and idols will never satisfy. Only Christ can do that. He alone gives us full satisfaction and fulfillment in Him, and He wants us to find our delight in Him.

Watch this video to learn how to apply this beautiful truth that, by God’s grace, will transform your Quiet Time from duty to delight.

Your Next Step:

This week, whenever you start your daily devotions, begin with this simple prayer, “Lord, would you help me to enter Your presence not as something to check off my list but as an invitation to seek You and delight in Your presence.”
